SpellSense uses only what it needs to work. There are no advertising or analytics cookies, and nothing that tracks you across other websites. Because everything below is strictly necessary, there is nothing optional to switch off — and so no cookie banner.

Cookies

These are set only when you sign in. On the live site their names start with__Secure-.

• better-auth.session_token — keeps you signed in. Lasts 30 days, renewed while you keep using SpellSense; removed when you sign out.
• better-auth.session_data — a short-lived copy of your session so pages load without checking the database every time. Lasts 5 minutes.
• During Google sign-in only, a short-lived cookie that protects the sign-in from forgery. It is removed when sign-in finishes.

Storage in your browser

These stay on your device and are never sent to us.

• spellsense.progress.v1 — your practice progress when you use SpellSense without an account.
• spellsense.sound.v1 — whether sound effects are on or off.

Other websites

Your browser loads the Lexend font from Google Fonts and pronunciation recordings from Cloudflare. Neither sets cookies for SpellSense, but both see your IP address when your browser asks for the file — see the privacy policy.

Clearing them

Signing out removes the sign-in cookies. Clearing your browser's data for this site removes everything above — including progress saved without an account, so sign up first if you want to keep it.
